China sends more industry-trains to Europe

Last Saturday, 8 June 2024, China-Europe Express Railway dispatched the first, direct express freight train from Shanghai in China to Düsseldorf and Neuss in Western Germany. Over 100 cities in twelve Eurasian countries are now connected to Shanghai by express rail.

A new line to Austria will be launched soon, according to the Chinese local media. The maiden train that is now en route to Germany carries more than 100 containers of industrial products, such as automotive parts, mechanical equipment, and photovoltaic modules.

The new service connects not only China but Asia’s complete transport network with European land transport systems. It has fixed departure times, train numbers and routes and special customs handling. (ben)
