China's air cargo traffic soon above normal?
The online news portal Xinhua reports that the Chinese civil aviation industry transported 539,000 t of cargo and mail in July 2022, 28.3% more than in April. Liang Nan, director of the transport department of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, announced these figures at a press conference recently. From January to July, 163,000 cargo flights were registered in the country, including 117,000 international flights.
The capacity of air cargo to support supply chains has been "significantly enhanced", as many aviation logistics firms have expanded targeted services for firms in need of unimpeded deliveries during Covid-19 outbreaks.
Put into operation in July, the Ezhou Huahu airport in central China, the first professional cargo hub airport in Asia, "will enhance the international competitiveness of China's aviation logistics", Liang added. (ah)
