China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway goes ahead
Russia and Kyrgyzstan have signed a memorandum of cooperation regarding rail transport. The document underlines the positive development and effectiveness of joint action to conduct a preliminary feasibility study of projects for the phased upgrading of the Kyrgyz rail network.
The memorandum focuses primarily on the construction of a China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway line and a railway junction linking Kyrgyzstan’s northern and southern regions.
According to the results of the study, the parties intend to put forward proposals to implement a variety of projects to develop Kyrgyzstan’s railways. (ben)
