China Airlines to introduce new freighter model

China Airlines (Taiwan) and Boeing (USA) have signed a memorandum of understanding for three firm and three option aircraft orders for B777 freighters.

Before 2016, China Airlines introduced a total of ten B777-300ER passenger aircraft. A current B777-300ER pilot could easily fly B777F after receiving difference training. As for cargo loading operations, B777F and B747-400F ULDs are highly compatible which leads to smooth transit cargo handling.

Compared to 747-400F, of which China Airlines is operating 18 units, B777F offers more than 20% fuel savings which will allow airlines to be more competitive when facing high fuel cost. The carrier plans to operate these aircraft mainly in services to the Europe and North American markets to meet growing demand. They will also replace some older B747-400F currently in service. (ah)
