China: a new train route to Europe
Xi’an, the capital of China’s Shaanxi Province, has introduced a new freight train service to Europe. The first train left the Xi'an International Trade and Logistics (ITL) Park last week and is now en route to Mannheim in Germany.
On its 11,300 km long journey to Europe, the train will cross the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea via rail-sea combined transportation and will pass through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Czechia until arriving at the final destination.
The new route covers countries and regions that rarely saw China-Europe freight train services in the past, opening up new markets for domestic and international enterprises, the Xi’an ITL port authority said. (ben)
