Chep reboots its hub in Vienna
Chep Austria is upgrading its service centre in Vienna with state-of-the-art technology. The provider of pallet pooling services has invested more than EUR 1 million into the automation of pallet servicing and repairs to improve its hub’s performance.
Chep deploys robotic technology to optimise processes in order to meet rising demand for sustainable load carriers. Every year, millions of pallets are checked and, if necessary, repaired after each delivery cycle in accordance with the “share and reuse” principle. Then they are returned to the retail trade and the consumer goods industry.
“Automation prepares our service centre for the future," says Wim Hermans, Chep’s country manager Austria. “An increasing number of customers are realising saving potentials by pooling pallets. This allows them to concentrate on their core activities and reduces costs.” (mw)
