Chennai Tech Centre opens
Hapag-Lloyd has inaugurated its Technology Centre in Chennai, India, focusing on developing software solutions for the maritime industry. The facility is the result of a joint venture with Indian tech firm Solverminds and will initially house a team of 180 IT specialists, with plans to expand to 300-400 experts.
The Chennai centre joins Hapag-Lloyd's existing IT hubs in Gdansk and Hamburg, underscoring the company's investment in technological advancement and the strategic importance of India's IT talent market.
With a growing presence in India, Hapag-Lloyd now employs over 3,000 staff in various operations in the country. (pb)
