Certified pharma logistics in Caspian Sea region
Baku (Azerbaijan)-based Silk Way West Airlines, which has a fleet of twelve B747 freighters, has been awarded good distribution practice (GDP) certification.
To further improve its capacity for a reliable handling of time- and temperature-sensitive cargo, the carrier from Azerbaijan has successfully completed an in-depth GDP audit by an external party with a strong track record in the pharmaceutical industry.
According to Aydin Huseynov, VP for global cargo logistics & standards, GDP certification is an important step in upgrading the airline’s carriage capabilities for all pharmaceutical products, as well as ensuring that the required storage services are in place.
Wolfgang Meier, CEO and president: "Obtaining the GDP certification proves the readiness of Silk Way West Airlines in taking a leading role in global distribution of medical supplies." (ah)
