Certificate renewal for Jade Weser Port
Germany's Jade Weser Port Wilhelmshaven has gained Pers certification for its environmental management for the fourth time in total.
Pers is the abbreviation for “Port Environmental Review System”, a tool for comprehensive analysis and monitoring of environmental management specifically in ports. The certificate was issued by the Brussels-based international organisation Eco Ports.
Jade Weser Port is also increasing the ecological efficiency of logistics chains by improving its organisational and legal processes and adjusting existing port infrastructure. The port's connection to the public rail network is being modernised and the Oldenburg-Wilhelmshaven line is to be electrified by the end of 2022. This will lay the foundation for the use of electric railcars and thus lower-emission technology. (sh)
