Central location for urban logistics
Vailog, a Segro group member, and Ikea recently inaugurated "Paris Air2 Logistique", a new logistics centre located in the inland port of Gennevilliers port in Paris. Ikea France and the gardenware retailer Leroy Merlin are utilising the 63,000 sqm two-storey distribution platform.
The site in the port of Paris, part of the Haropa group of ports, was one of the last of the well-developed sites of that size. The centre’s operator XPO Logistics wants to create around 100 jobs by mid-2019. The transport companies VIR and Trusk, which jointly offer some 200 jobs, are already on site.
Ikea France, which aims to make logistics more eco-friendly, has equipped the centre with charging stations for electric vehicles. By mid-2020, deliveries will be made using emission-free vehicles. In addition, the home furnishing giant wants to make use of inland shipping services on the River Seine. (mw)
