CD Cargo: the last eleven
The ordered eleven locomotives are the last batch of a contract for 50 locomotives, which the Czechian railfreight carrier signed with Alstom/Bombardier in 2018. They will be delivered in 2026 and will be equipped with modern signalling and safety equipment enabling them to operate in Czechia as well as in several European countries.
In addition to the original contract, CD Cargo has purchased ten more Traxx 3MS locomotives, which are expected to be delivered in 2025 and will be operated by the Austrian branch of CD Cargo.
The renewal of the locomotive fleet is a necessary condition for expansion into foreign markets, the company said. CD Cargo transported more than 12 million t of goods in 2023. (ben)
