CBP catches smugglers on the wrong foot
US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently made important seizures of counterfeit fashion and apparel products. On 30 June 2020, officers in Louisville intercepted two packages from Hong Kong that contained 648 counterfeit belts. Labelled as Gucci and Ferragamo, the manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) for these belts would have been USD 350,496.
Another air cargo shipment from Hong Kong arriving in San Juan contained counterfeit designer pendants and jewellery with an MSRP of approximately USD 1.2 million, had the goods been genuine.
Finally, on 2 June, CBP officers inspecting parcels at the express consignment operations hub in Louisville stopped two shipments from Istanbul, containing counterfeit Louis Vuitton sandals. If these sandals were real, the MSRP for these was USD 276,540. (ah)
