Carl Büttner now British
London-headquartered Lomar Shipping, a maritime subsidiary of the British Libra Group, has acquired Bremen-based hitherto family-led Carl Büttner Holding (CB).
The negotiations for the acquisition of the 166-year-old owner and ship management company started in Q4/2021 and the final agreement between the two houses was reached in early 2022.
After receiving final regulatory approvals, the transaction closed last week at an enterprise value of nearly USD 160 million. Transport Capital provided advice and negotiated on behalf of the sellers.
CB was founded in 1856 and has been owned and managed by the Büttner family for five generations. Through this acquisition, CB becomes a subsidiary of Lomar, a shipping and ship management group established in 1976 with a diversified fleet of container ships, bulk carriers and chemical/product tankers.
