Cargologic: like open-heart surgery
Day and night, the material flow computer of Cargologic, a subsidiary of Rhenus Group, processes thousands of shipment orders and keeps its centralised automated shuttle warehouse with 8,500 pallet spaces up and running.
In partnership with the software company LplusR, a specialist for the modernisation of high-availability warehouse systems headquartered in Parkstein in Bavaria, the Swiss airfreight handler is bringing its computer up to date with the latest technology in a complex project that will take a year to complete and cost around CHF 1.5 million.
The central shuttle warehouse is in great demand and operates around the clock, so it does not allow any downtime. The core of the overall LplusR package is a digital twin that virtualises and emulates the shuttle warehouse down to the hardware level. This enables extensive test scenarios, optimisations, and comparisons with the current system. (cj)
