Canada's largest pet speciality facility
Pet Valu Holdings, a Canadian retailer of pet food and pet-related supplies, has opened its new 62,245 sqm distribution centre in Brampton, Ontario.
Part of the company’s CAD 110 million supply chain transformation, the GTA DC will be the largest distribution centre and robotics automation installation in the pet specialty industry. The GTA DC is approximately the size of eleven football fields and will bring 500 skilled jobs to Brampton.
Pet Valu plans to introduce automation into the GTA DC. It will be able to process orders same day, while improving pick productivity by 50%, reducing the footprint and costs.
Pet Valu expects the GTA DC to be fully operational by H1/2024, following a phased transition period. The facility is currently commencing receipt and shipment of bulk items and will start with piece-pick items in early 2024. (mk)
