Camion Pro assists claims for compensation
The European Court of Justice (CJEU) has ruled that the calculation of Germany’s highway tolls was incorrect. Based on this ruling, companies are entitled to demand compensation for excessive toll charges in Germany.
According to the trade association Camion Pro, applications must be submitted before the end of this year to avoid missing the limitation period. Camion Pro has prepared a sample letter and additional information for its members to this effect.
The CJEU’s ruling states that the truck tolls should not have included the costs for traffic police, which amount to about 4% to 6% of the tolls levied since 2005. The Court began its deliberations on the issue after a Polish road haulage firm had filed a complaint. (ben)
