Cameroon’s Camrail receives new locomotives

Camrail, a subsidiary of Bolloré Railways, recently took delivery of five new locomotives at the autonomous port of Douala. Each of the new, 33,000 hp locomotives, manufactured by General Electric in the USA, is equipped with the latest technology and will commence services in February.

The traction will strengthen Camrail's haulage capacity and improve the quality of services offered to rail service users. The new acquisitions are part of a nine-locomotive order placed by Cameroon. Camrail paid out CFAF 12.3 billion (EUR 0.019 billion) for the new units. (ben)
