Camair in trouble
Camair-Co is going through financial difficulties. The Cameroon aviation company recorded a loss of income of more than EUR 9.2 million in the last six months and a -55% decrease of its turnover.
The reasons for this situation seem to be both the closing of Cameroon's frontiers on 17 March 2020 and a lack of workforce.
Indeed, before the health crisis, the company already had to face a loss of its flights, because of lack of staff. Only the Dash 8 was able to fly. Both MA60 were grounded like the two B737-700, which had not flown since February 2019, and the B767-300 was left in the hangar.
Nevertheless, with a debt burden of more than EUR 168 million on its shoulders, Camair-Co has planned new flights since 18 October 2020, focusing on its home network. (ah)
