Caen: Port bridge back in service
After 15 days of closure for works, the Bénouville Bridge in the Port of Caen - part of Ports of Normandie - was reopened to the traffic again, despite the difficult weather conditions of the past week and the nature of the manual work carried out.
Two of the six hydraulic motors have been substituted and no less than 600 m of cables intended to supply the power and control of the motors have been replaced. The cable chain that caused the technical incident at the end of August was completely renewed.
The Ports de Normandie - Caen-Ouistreham, Cherbourg and Dieppe, represent 2 million cross-channel passengers and 7 million t of goods per year and also a third of the declared fishing tonnage in Normandy. (sh)
