Busy - busier - Miami
Miami International Airport (MIA) handled 2.2 million t of international freight and 500,000 t of domestic shipments in 2022, thus matching the record of 2.7 million t of freight it had set in 2021.
According to Airports Council International, MIA is the #1 US airport for international freight, #4 US airport for total freight, #9 global airport for international freight and total flight operations, and #10 global airport for total freight.
MIA deserves to celebrate the title of "busiest airport in Florida", as it served over 50.6 million passengers in 2022, shattering its record of 45.9 million set in 2019 by nearly 10% and surpassing Orlando airport’s total by half a million.
Miami Dade county mayor Daniella Levine Cava: "In addition to MIA leading our community’s successful economic recovery, it is again leading the way for the state of Florida as well! Congratulations to the MIA team and partners." (ah)
