Building Poland's largest intermodal hub
Spedcont, a Geodis affiliate, is planning to purchase a plot of land and expand the intermodal terminal near Lodz by approximately 35,000 sqm. The total area of the terminal will then exceed 180,000 sqm.
Currently, the terminal spans almost 130,000 sqm, and its storage capacity is 7,500 teu. After the expansion, the hub will be the largest inland intermodal terminal in Poland in terms of storage capacity and one of the country’s largest terminals in terms of handling capacity, estimated at twelve trains per day, Spedcont said.
Work on the expansion of the terminal and the building of the container freight station are scheduled to begin in 2023. (ben)
