Building another palace in Potsdam
In Potsdam, near Berlin, the parcel service provider GLS Germany has broken ground for a new company facility. A 9,200 sqm distribution centre is coming up on a 50,000 sqm site there, in collaboration with project partner Aurelis Real Estate. The building, scheduled for completion by Q4/2023, will be constructed by Aurelis.
The logistician will handle around 250,000 parcels a day there once the facility is operational, and 400 jobs will be created on site. The managers of the centre will report to Karl Pfaff, chairman of GLS Germany’s management board.
In addition to a parcel centre there’ll be around 1,400 sqm of office and recreational space, 190 car and truck parking spaces and generous charging infrastructure for GLS’s increasingly electrified delivery fleet. The building will be a cross-docking centre. (sh)
