Budapest to get an intermodal terminal
Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) recently signed a memorandum of cooperation with Xi'an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation (China) to create a joint intermodal cargo terminal in Budapest. The Hungarian capital is part of a comprehensive network for multimodal transports in Europe.
With a capacity of 230,000 teu per year, the terminal will increase the number of container trains on the China-Europe-China route, including transit via the Middle Corridor of the New Silk Road, the Trans-Caspian international transport route (TITR). Once implemented, the project will help reduce delivery and transshipments times and decrease transport costs. (ben)
