Broekman's transformation continues
Rotterdam-based Broekman Logistics grew considerably in 2021, with its revenues surging by over 40% to EUR 345 million compared to the weak year 2020. Yet, the overall result was negative due to restructuring costs and impairment of past investments.
For 2022, Rik Pek, CEO of Broekman Logistics, expects further improvement in turnover and a positive bottom-line result. The main reason for the success were the company’s expanding forwarding activities in India, Poland, the Netherlands, Czechia and Belgium.
The breakbulk terminals division saw revenues going up by 6% in 2021, yet higher wages and material costs minimised the ebitda contribution.
Broekman Logistics changed its strategy recently, when it decided to divest from the bulk chemicals activities. The former VLS business in Antwerp has now been sold.
The company has also started building a 60,000 sqm site in Weert, planning to double its capacity for final assembly and manufacturing operations. The network of warehouses now comprises Rotterdam, Born and Venlo. (sh)
