Broad alliance for more rail links
Following an initiative of the association of German transport companies (VDV), 37 associations and organisations have joined forces to strengthen and promote rail connections in Germany’s rail network.
To this end, they have drawn up a rail connection charter, which they submitted to the relevant authorities in Berlin (Germany) today, 28 June 2019. The number of rail links in the German network continues to fall, which, according to the VDV, has a negative impact on railfreight and wagonload traffic.
Therefore, the VDV calls for a substantial expansion of rail connections so that rail transport companies can help increase the amount of cargo carried by the railways. (ben)
