Brittany Ferries want to cut newbuild

The Flensburg district court recently ordered provisional self-administration in response to an application submitted by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft mbH (FSG). The new managing director, alongside Jaap Klein, is Martin Hammer, founder of the consulting company enomyc, which specialises in restructuring.

His wish "we want to maintain FSG's reputation for modern shipbuilding in Flensburg. The company now needs a period of calm," did not come true. Brittany Ferries has terminated the contract concluded with FSG for the construction of a ferry–newbuilding number 774 of the yard.

The future "Honfleur" is owned by the FSG. The shipyard is currently holding talks with various parties on the completion of the vessel as well as its financing.

Stefan Denkhaus, general representative of FSG, said: “We cannot understand the customer’s decision, and the termination came as a surprise." (mw)
