Bringing air cargo capacity back into West Africa

Niger Air Cargo reinstated its weekly B747F service between Liege and Niamey on 8 October 2023, resuming the sole, direct full-freighter link from Europe to Niger. Despite the currently difficult circumstances, the ECS Group member envisages a swift return to 2022 volumes and foresees a stable 2024.

The airline offers a unique cargo link to the landlocked country and to neighbouring Nigeria and Mali as well. It regularly transports agricultural products, raw materials, apparel, and healthcare products.

During the pandemic, Niger Air Cargo’s leased B747 was instrumental in ensuring that medical and relief goods could be brought into West Africa. The carrier also provided temporary cargo import solutions after the recent disruption when the military coup led to the closure of Niger's airports and airspace. (ah)
