Brexit a benefit for air freight?
The British aviation services group and air freight broker Air Partner is preparing for a possible influx of air freight requests as the UK approaches the end of its transition period out of the EU (31 December 2020).
In fact, loaded trucks that at present enter England via Dover will be subject to additional customs protocols. Potential queues up to 7,000 vehicles-long would be challenging to business’s supply chains.
In this scenario Air Partner expects many businesses may need to explore alternative transport options in order to minimise disruption to supply chains, especially for goods like electronic goods, pharmaceuticals and automotive parts.
This would increase air freight demand due its speed and convenience, despite it typically involving a higher cost to businesses than road transport. (ah)
