Breaking ground for C3
BLG Logistics is building a new warehouse in Bremen (Germany). The abbreviation C3 stands for the initial letters of the words customer, climate and comfort. The sustainable real estate is also intended to be used as a blueprint for other sites belonging to the Bremen-based global sea port and logistics services provider.
The company is currently considering the use of new technologies, including moving floors for the loading of trucks, driver less transport systems, data glasses and automated packaging facilities.
Photovoltaic panels spanning an area of roughly 80,000 sqm on the roof of the building are expected to generate around 10 million kilowatt hours of solar energy per year. The logistics centre is designed to contain eight separate warehousing areas. (sh)
