Border pre-registration zone in Coqelles ready
The pre-registration building on Eurotunnel’s French terminal in Coqelle, has been completed. This represents a major step in meeting the 6 October deadline when the entry/exit system will come into force, the Channel tunnel concessionaire Getlink said.
The pre-registration area features a drive-through zone equipped with CCTV. At 7,000 sqm, it can accommodate up to 60 vehicles simultaneously. Each individual vehicle bay will be equipped with two static kiosks to complete the necessary biometric checks that will be required for non-EU nationals entering the European Union.
Getlink has invested EUR 80 million over the last three years (2022-2024) in its Coquelles and Folkestone terminals to implement an EU EES border system. (ben)
