Boosting intermodal traffic in Southern Spain

It is the second location to be opened in Spain after operations started in Bilbao in 2016. As part of its plans to expand its intermodal business in Southern Spain, the international freight forwarder Robert Kukla launched its new office in Murcia on 15 October 2023. The team starts off with three employees.

For shortsea transport, the containers are usually transported by rail to Robert Kukla’s branch in the Bilbao/Santander region, and from there carried by ship to Northern Europe.

For transports in the Mediterranean region or ocean shipping, the freight forwarder uses the large container port in Valencia.

The manager of the new office in Murcia, Fabio Allinger: “Transit times for multimodal transport are always very robust and reliable, which is a great advantage. In contrast, truck capacities show strong seasonal fluctuations."

The company now has around 20 employees in Spain and handles around 15,000 teu annually in intermodal transports via short sea and rail to and from Northwest Europe. (cd)
