Boosting in Burgdorf
Camion Transport is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its branch in Burgdorf, Bern with an expansion of its cargo logistics centre on the site. This CHF 21 million investment follows a previous extension project in 2009. After a three-year construction phase, the latest enlargement will be completed at the end of this month.
With this move, the transport company from Eastern Switzerland will add 1,500 sqm of storage space and thus 1,600 more pallet spaces to its portfolio. The site also includes 1,400 sqm of handling space and 32 covered ramp spaces. It is equipped with a photovoltaic system with a maximum output of 590 kW, which, together with a groundwater heat pump, ensures a sustainable energy supply.
Thirteen charging stations for electric vehicles will be added at a later date. The facility has its own siding, enabling the approximately 138 employees to handle up to 35 rail wagons a day, in cooperation with SBB Cargo.
Building on a 20-year history and the new expansion, Camion Transport can now continue to drive the development of its Burgdorf site. (mk)
