Boosting fresh services
The Challenge Group, having launched its first African route two months ago, has ramped up its Nairobi–Europe airfreight capacities, upgrading some flights to Boeing B747-400 freighters. This expansion addresses the ongoing capacity crunch in Africa, with Nairobi serving as a key gateway to other regional markets.
In the past two weeks, Challenge Handling in Liège has managed 30+ flights carrying over 3,000 t of fresh flowers. Its facility enables simultaneous loading of two B747Fs, with dedicated cooling areas and fast-track customs clearance, ensuring rapid access to European markets.
“With 50 years of expertise in perishables logistics, we’re committed to supporting global trade while strengthening Nairobi’s key industry,” said Or Zak, CCO of the Challenge Group. The company will also engage with customers at Air Cargo Africa, set for Nairobi next week, to further expand its footprint. (ah)
