BNSF names ARZC ‘Short line of the year’
The US class I railway enterprise BNSF has named Arizona & California Railroad (ARZC) as its 2019 ‘Short line of the year’ during its annual short-line conference. ARZC runs a 330-km line between Matthie AZ and Cadiz CA and handles 20,000 units of overhead traffic annually.
A subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming, ARZC was recognised for its commitment to safety, service, growth, investment and velocity. The short-line railway has continued to operate injury-free for the last 13 years and has invested more than USD 12 million in its line.
BNSF also recognised Texas North Western Railway for its commitment to safety and customer service. (ben)
