BNSF invests in rail hub in Arizona
The US class I railway is planning a new regional rail-served facility near Phoenix, Arizona (USA). It will be a master-planned hub that to accommodate the transport, storage, and distribution of goods and materials throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and the greater southwest.
The facility will tie into the existing rail network to optimise supply chain operations, allowing for the efficient and sustainable movement of goods and materials via rail and will offer the opportunity to reduce trucking distances in the region, BNSF said. It will be designed as a hub for rail shipments via standardised containers and trailers and provide direct-rail-served sites to support the local industry. (ben)
