BLS appoints head of rail production
The board of directors of BLS has appointed Thomas Stupp as the new head of rail production. Stupp succeeds Peter Fankhauser, who has left BLS after thirteen years of service.
Stupp joined BLS in 2008 as head of railway operations, where he was responsible for the running of the suburban railway, RegioExpress services and other regional trains as well as the operation of the car trains. After that, he was acting head of passenger services for a year, before he took charge of capacity scheduling and fleet management as deputy head of the newly created rail production department in 2011.
Stupp has a degree in civil engineering from the ETH Zurich. Before he came to BLS, he worked for ten years in several positions at CityNightLine and DB AutoZug. With a staff of 1,600, the rail production department is responsible for the procurement, operation and maintenance of all trains as well as the deployment of train conductors and locomotive drivers.
