BLR airport: another record for perishable cargo
For three consecutive years, Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (KIAB/BLR) has maintained its position as one of the major airports for exporting perishable cargo in India. The airport witnessed growth in the export of these products, handling a record tonnage of 53,751 t in financial year 2022-2023 (FY/23). T
his represents a 3% increase compared to the previous year (FY/22), when the airport handled 52,366 t of perishable cargo. BLR Airport maintained its dominant position in this segment, with a 27% share in total cargo volumes in India’s air cargo market and a 41% share within airports in southern India.
Among perishable goods, BLR Airport ranked first in India’s exports of poultry (39.865 t) and floriculture/flowers (1,877 t), with a 9% increase compared to the previous year. (cj)
