Blood plasma from Manchester to San Francisco

"ACS Time Critical", Air Charter Service's offering for most urgent shipments, went the extra mile for a transatlantic onboard courier (OBC) job that was ultra time sensitive, due to the consignment’s extremely limited shelf life - blood-plasma had to be kept cool and couldn’t be x-rayed.

Time critical director Oliver Weigelt: "This needed an OBC with extensive experience, so a member of our Frankfurt team jumped on the next flight to Manchester to wait at the hospital for the surgery to be completed."

Since the extraction of the blood from the donor was taking much longer than expected, ACS activated the San Francisco office’s private jet division, who quickly sourced the right plane. Finally, the plasma was successfully delivered to San Francisco less than 13 hours after the surgery in Manchester. (ah)
