Bison moves to new pastures
At the turn of the year, 30-year old Bison Transport, one of Canada’s major logistics and trucking companies, was taken over by James Richardson & Sons, an agricultural and industrial conglomerate also from Canada. Bison’s affiliates H.O. Wolding, Searcy Trucking and Britton Transport are part of the acquisition. Details of the deal were not disclosed.
The seller of Winnipeg-based Bison Transport was Wescan Capital, a holding company owned by the Jessiman family. The company has a fleet of about 2,000 trucks and 6,000 trailers, with operations based in both Canada and the United States. CEO Rob Penner will retain his position at Bison's. (sh)
