Birmingham to receive UK’s first EV mixer
The British construction company Tarmac has placed an order for the UK’s first battery electric mixer truck from Renault. Due to be delivered in Autumn 2022, the vehicle will be immediately put to work in Birmingham, supplying essential construction materials to customers in the West Midlands.
Tarmac is working with Renault Trucks and Total Vehicle Solutions to develop the next generation of mixers, with ambitions for their eventual widespread use in its urban operations.
As Tarmac procures 100% of its site electricity from clean energy sources - wind, solar and hydro power only – the new vehicle will operate as a carbon neutral solution. EV mixers also reduce noise and vibration. (ben)
