Bio-LNG saves 87 t of CO2

In June 2021, DHL Freight and Shell started piloting a Bio-LNG solution (bio-liquefied natural gas from sustainable biomass) on three trucks to sustainably reduce CO2 emissions in road freight traffic for DHL's customer Grundfos, a pump manufacturer.

In the first five months, the transition to Bio-LNG has saved 87 t of CO2 eq. This corresponds to the emissions of a Diesel truck driving more than 89,900 km. Bio-LNG thus enables to reduce the CO2 footprint of a traditional diesel engine by 85%.

The fuel alternative is being implemented to improve Grundfos' line haul between its pump production sites Bjerringbro, Denmark and Longeville-Les-Saint-Avold, France. (ben)
