Biman shows interest in full freighters
According to local media, Biman Bangladesh Airlines will add a further two unspecified Boeing aircraft to its fleet. During a welcome ceremony for the South Asian national carrier's fourth B787-9, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said: "Three more Dash planes are on firm order from De Havilland Aircraft of Canada. But we have found out that Boeing is looking to sell two planes quickly. Someone ordered the aircraft but didn't take them. But we will take them instead."
While the fourth Dreamliner is scheduled to serve Manchester (UK), the country will also invest in cargo facilities at the Dhaka hub in Bangladesh. Subsequently, two freighters could join Biman's fleet too. The only active freighters in Bangladesh are currently operated by Sky Air, a B737F and two F27 with a payload of 15.5 t and 5 t, respectively. (ah)
