Big investments for Hutchison Ports
Global port operator Hutchison Ports is making substantial investments in Ain Sokhna Port, Egypt's major port, and "B100", a new container terminal in the Port of Alexandria.
Eric Ip, group managing director of Hutchison Ports, said that this step "reflects [their] commitment to Egypt and the wider African market." Indeed, the USD 700 million project will expand the group's network to 52 ports in 25 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Australasia.
Ip added that these projects will help the "growth and development of the local economy." Ain Sokhna Port is located on the Red Sea with its major shipping routes, and the Alexandria-based B100 terminal offers connections to Europe, Asia, and Africa. (lh)
