Big changes at Singapore Shipping Association

At the 25th annual general meeting of the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA), the industry voice of Singapore’s maritime community, seven members were elected into the SSA Council for the 2021/2023 term and a refreshed logo introduced.

After the AGM, Caroline Yang was re-elected president of SSA. She has already announced the association’s next priorities: all seafarers vaccinated, SSA should continue to “grow as a trusted partner for Maritime Singapore and the international maritime community”, digitalisation and decarbonisation.

The council also elected René Piil Pedersen, managing director of AP Moller Singapore as vice president and honorary secretary, as well as Katie Men, managing director of Iseaco Investment as vice president and honorary treasurer; and co-opted four members, with diverse expertise and experiences. The composition of the new SSA Council is designed to represent the diversity of the shipping industry.

Finally, the new logo aims to recall SSA’s links to Singapore and the red ensign of Singapore registered ships, but also illustrates, with a compass needle, the association’s mission, “to engage maritime stakeholders, promote the interests of shipping in Singapore and the rest of the world, and together, navigate the future”, as a press release said.
