Bifa promoting ‘Apprenticeship Week’
During ‘National Apprenticeship Week’, which runs from today, 10 February, through to next Sunday, the British International Freight Association (Bifa) will host two online events to highlight apprenticeships as a way to attract talent.
On 12 February ‘Ask an ex-apprentice’ will feature industry professionals sharing their experiences. The following day, ‘Navigating the apprenticeship landscape’ will guide employers on standards, application processes and using levy funds to upskill staff.
Bifa’s Carl Hobbis says that many SMEs hesitate to hire apprentices. “We want to reassure members by sharing our own experiences.” Despite 1,300 apprentices completing the forwarding pathway, new starts have dropped recently.
Bifa director general Steve Parker added that “now’s the perfect time to promote careers in forwarding and logistics.” (ah)
