Bifa backs shipping decision
The UK's competition and markets authority (CMA) has decided not to replace the liner shipping consortia block exemption regulation (CBER) with a UK-specific liner shipping consortia block exemption order (CBEO) when it expires on 25 April 2024. This decision follows stakeholder feedback and a robust analysis of the container shipping market.
Supported by the British International Freight Association (Bifa), it aims to ensure greater scrutiny of shipping line consortia and full application of competition law to ensure a more balanced and successful deep-sea container market for international trade. (pb)
