BHV links new name with specific demands
On 29 May 2019, the BHV decided to reposition itself and changed its name to BHV Bremische Hafen- und Logistikvertretung, i.e. port and logistics representative in Bremen (Germany). Hans-Joachim Schnitger and Karl Geuther were appointed presidents of the association.
They recently presented the BHV’s demands on Bremen’s future government to about 90 representatives from the port and logistics industry. BHV wants the government to provide the necessary framework for an increase of cargo throughput in the ports of Bremen.
The aim is to raise total throughput from the present 74 million t in Bremen and Bremerhaven to at least 80 million t per year. Container throughput should grow to 6 million teu and automobile handling to 2.5 million cars per year. Furthermore, the seaport and transport sector expects the new senate to provide sufficient funding for the ports. (kd)
