BGT record in Basra
The 6,600 teu containership ‘Yang Ming Mutuality’ sailed from the Basra Gateway Terminal (BGT) in Um Qasr (Iraq) recently, having set a new turnaround mark. BGT recorded a total of 1,768 moves on the vessel in 17.5 hours, achieving a record berth productivity of 101 moves per hour, a first for BGT, which is continuing to ramp up its service capabilities.
BGT CEO Phillip Marsham commented that “this performance broke our 100 moves-per-hour barrier, making it a proud moment for all of us at BGT.”
BGT is expanding its services in every sector of its operations, including container handling and multipurpose, ro-ro and heavy lift operations. It recently completed USD 250 million investment programme, implemented by International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI), its parent company. (cd)
