BGL – postpone CO2 toll plans to 2025
Germany’s small and medium-sized transport and logistics companies are stunned by the federal cabinet’s plans to double the truck toll on 1 December 2023.
The German national association for road freight transportation, logistics and waste management (Bundesverband Güterkraftverkehr, Logistik und Entsorgung BGL) has received countless cries for help, voicing a mixture of existential concerns, anger and a feeling that the daily performance of the sector is not adequately appreciated.
The association is therefore now calling for a toll reform that allows companies enough time to plan. The CO2 toll should be postponed until 2025 and introduced in stages. This should take into account the availability of emission-free vehicles and alternative refueling and charging infrastructure, the BGL said. (ben)
