Berthod banking on green fleet
Berthod Transport is the first company in Valais, Switzerland, to own an electrically powered 40 t Volvo truck. The vehicle has a range of over 300 km, which is easily enough for domestic transports between Sion and Zurich.
The Volvo FH electric truck is silent on the road and has no CO2 emissions. The lithium-ion batteries in the truck are charged with solar energy from the photovoltaic system installed on the company's own roofs.
The new vehicle will be used to transport all kinds of goods - aluminium, gypsum, recyclables, foodstuffs - for regional and national transports. Berthod has also been testing a truck powered by LNG for a year. (ben)
